You have to have the latest Version of DirectX, which should be 10, they suggest 9.0C.Ģ. I contacted customer support (you have to register and be a member, which is free) and although it was weekend, I received a response.ġ. The program kept crashing every few minutes, my auto-saved project simpkly disappeared and the BAK file was unusable.

I received Power Director with my JVC HDcamcorder, ithin a few days I figured out it wasn't a full working version, burning DVDs was impossible. I read about all the crashes users experience, and customer support not responding, here is my experience: Hope this helps you choose the right product. And while you can force the subtitles to always be on, you cannot set those subtitles to be on by default while still allowing someone to turn them off. On the upside, you can create a full film including subtitles. In other words, if you want to have a single film with no chapters and no subtitle page, you cannot do it with this software.

for the scene/chapter pages, you can set the number of buttons to be 1 or higher, but you must have at least 1 scene menu page with at least 1 scene. you can rename it but you can't remove or hide it) Subtitle button (this is linked to the pre-defined Subtitle menu. Scenes/Chapters button (you can link this to submenus and rename it, but you cannot remove or hide it) Play button (you can link this to any video and rename it, but you cannot remove or hide it) My Videos label (which you can change to say anything, but you cannot remove) However, you are required to include the following items in every DVD/Blu-Ray project:

You can even download templates that others have created. It is true that you can modify and add things to their basic template. There are, however, several limitations you may want to be aware of before you buy it. This is, overall, a very decent application. So if you are not too fussed about overall quality & high bit rates this tool may suite you as a one stop package. Two positives about PowerDirector is the multicam tool (synchronising seperate audio & video clips from the same scene) and that it is the only tool I found that at a reasonable price point that can author valid AVCHD-DVD discs. It really ought to be able to offer a frameserver or a vfw (or equivalent) plug-in interface for third party encoders.

You can't not use the internal codecs either - their mpeg2 encoder produced some really ugly interlace artifacts when resampling from HD to DVD.

No! the real test of a decent video tool is that it produces good quality video which is compatible with the widest range of other vendor's software & this tool produces video which continually causes other packages to crash. "The previous post is theatrical and in my opinion is also inaccurate." - It's clear that nicksson hasn't used this tool in anger as this software is a triumph of style over substance which is exemplified by the grandiose statement that "It comes with over $650 worth of premium effects and templates to enrich your video creation" in whose opinion is that? And another wopper is "use magic tools in your production?".
